VASCO: Over the past few days, the sub-district hospital (SDH) at Chicalim in Vasco has been dealing with an increase in the number of viral fever cases.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Anil Umraskar said that while the hospital usually attends to around 250 patients on a daily basis, the numbers have increased recently, with a majority of the patients coming in with viral fever.

“If the need arises, children and elderly patients are admitted,” Umraskar said.

Patients with fever are also tested for malaria and dengue, besides Covid-19.

Attributing this trend to sudden weather changes and the rain, Umraskar said, “People must avoid getting drenched, wear warm clothes and maintain personal hygiene. Those with viral fever must take necessary precautions.”
